“One Day” will Never Come Unless We Start it Today

Most of us think that someday we will do something for others. Someday, one day, we will help people and save the world. Why do we have to wait to do it later? That “one day” will never come unless we start it today.

It is never too early to make a change. I am only fourteen years old, and I voluntarily help my community to rescue and find missing dogs, since not many people really care of lost or missing dogs. I also set up a blog called Love Your Dogs that shares information about missing or found dogs in my community. Those missing dogs usually are not treated well. If their owners do not claim them within two weeks, they will be dead meat, literally! The dogs can end up in a food market! Knowing this made me feel like I should end it up. I cannot just let those poor lost, stray dogs end up in someone’s stomach. I thought taking an action immediately was a must.

Since I live in Indonesia where there are many different cultures and religions, I am so aware that having a dog can create many social conflicts. Therefore, my blog is aimed to persuade people to respect others and treat their dogs well. It is a very beautiful moment to be able to share the loveliness of the dogs with other people who love them but are not allowed to have physical contact with dogs due to their religion. Simply by taking the dogs on leash and taking care of the feces properly. Those are simple things to do to share with many others on blog, but surely they can have big impacts on social harmony.

Another blog that I have called Tesa’s Diary is aimed to share my thoughts and views of many social issues with young readers. I design posters and put some reflections in my blog. They cover a wide range of topics of music as a universal language, love as an antidote for racism, and technology as a tool for making a better future. I send a message that we all are citizens of earth. There is no difference in race. Actually we only have one race on the earth: the human race. Although there are many different religions, I believe that we share the same faith, which is love for each other. We should be aware that under different flags of nations, we share the same land, called earth. My intention is to sow seeds of peace and harmony among teenagers, and watch them bloom into a beautiful world with no wars.

My blogs are my tools to shape the world. Blog is a powerful advantage of technology. However, it is undeniable that most teens nowadays tend to take advantage of technology negatively. They are so attached to technology. Unfortunately, it is in terms of unnecessary chatting, gaming, posting selfies, and even bullying. They tend to lose awareness and concerns about others and their environment. Sadly they seem to be self centered and ignorant. Imagine what they will be in the future when time comes for them to rule the world. As a teenager myself, I feel sad to see my generation taking the wrong path to the future. So, why not leave the video games and ignorance today? Young age should be more aware and concern to their surrounding problems as responsible citizen of earth.

I believe that to take a small step with a small amount of knowledge and ability is the first step to iron out the seemingly complicated world problems. It is my responsibility to encourage my own generation not to postpone the action until being older and rich to make this world a better place for everyone. I believe the time is now.
